{SCA} Among the original proponents of the ‘Rock Chick’ attitude in the Middle East, Uma Ghosh Deshpande’s label “Pepper by Uma” promises to spice up your wardrobe with a spattering of flamboyance and flair.

Her most recent collection called ‘Rock Chick’ further animates her stance that the woman of today is a go-getter who knows how to live it up, and yet has a soft feminine side which she has interpreted with the use of satins and silks. The colours employed are in sync with the latest obsession with metallics in the fashion circles.

Uma’s lunge into the world of fashion took off after bagging the Gladrag’s Mrs India title in 2005, and laboring to create her own label which is retailed in Dubai’s top end boutique “S*uce”.

Her designs are aimed at women of any shape and size, who wants glamour and oomph without losing the key ingredient which is ‘comfort’. Known for her classic cuts, bold hues and sensual styles, Uma’s creations calls out the diva in a woman. “Every woman likes to feel like a star, and I want to be able to give that” expresses Uma.

While her passion begins with fashion, it also goes on to bringing a touch of that glamour into the living rooms of the people of Dubai. Taking on the role of producer and anchor, Uma glides high fashion and lifestyle based TV show “High Life Dubai” gracefully into its 5th season on air.

After 5 successful years in the fashion industry, Uma endeavors to keep churning out garments that express her inherent freedom of spirit.
