Viscose Dresses – Salwar Kameez Designs

{SCA} Viscose Suits and Fabric: Viscose is a type of rayon. It’s a man-made fiber made from purified cellulose, which usually comes from specially processed wood pulp. Viscose is very similar to cotton and silk. (Cotton is also made of cellulose).

Viscose is soft and absorbent (nearly twice that of cotton), and very comfortable against the skin. Commercially, it is used in everything from fabrics to shirts, trousers, diapers, sanitary napkins, tissues, knitwear, towels, bed linen, kilts and tartan (obviously), and many other products.

Most people assume that there are two kinds of fibres: natural ones, like cotton, wool and silk; and artificial ones synthesised out of petrochemicals like nylon and polyester. Viscose falls somewhere in between. The raw material for viscose is cellulose which is broken down either mechanically or chemically and reformed as fibres. Trees are 50% cellulose, cotton is 90% cellulose, so viscose is more accurately described as a natural, or recovered, fibre. Viscose rayon has a silky appearance and feel, and also has the ability to breathe in a manner similar to cotton weaves.

Can a viscose suit be ironed? Yes, but with suits, skirts or anything else you don’t want to ruin, tear an old pillow case so that you have a single cotton sheet to put over the item you’re ironing, dampen the sheet as you iron and then your clothes won’t go all shiny shiny.
