Brenda Song was born in Carmichael, California (a suburb of Sacramento) to a Hmong American father and a Thai American mother. Her family migrated to America from Laos in 1976. Brenda holds a black belt in and Tae Kwon Do was named an All-American Scholar in ninth grade. She began acting and modeling at age six. Her first television appearance was in a Little Caesars commercial. She also played a minor role in a skit on MADtv. Song landed one of her earliest screen assignments in 1996, with a small part in the Hulk Hogan comedy Santa With Muscles, then appeared in the following year’s big-screen comedy Leave It to Beaver. Scattered assignments in television series followed, including Judging Amy, 7th Heaven, and The Bernie Mac Show, and Song son graduated to Disney Chanel work at age 12, with parts in that station’s cable telemovies The Ultimate Christmas Present (2000) and Get a Clue (2002).
